Why HWIS

There are so many reasons to choose a language immersion education for your child, and in particular, one at HudsonWay Immersion School (HWIS). Founded in 2005, HWIS is the oldest immersion school in the Tri-State area and based on numerous academic testing results, HWIS students consistently outperform their monolingual independent school peers.

Approximately 90% of HudsonWay graduates are admitted to their top choice independent school once they leave HWIS. By the numbers, our students have superior English and math scores on standardized tests relative to their independent school peers as well as higher language proficiency scores in Mandarin and Spanish. HudsonWay is also, on average, 40% more affordable than top-tier independent schools.

Knowledge + emotional intelligence

We live in an interconnected world. With technology as the catalyst, our lives are changing continuously, and the ability to interact with people from diverse cultures is more important than ever.

At HudsonWay Immersion School, our mission is to help build the knowledge, skills, and character of our students, so they can become meaningful global contributors and citizens of the world. We know that critical thinking, flexibility, and emotional intelligence are just as important as the acquisition of facts and knowledge, and we cultivate a community of joyful learners. We represent our commitment to these traits as our four pillars of focus.

Cognitive benefits to immersion

HudsonWay Immersion School remains true to the principles of the best language immersion programs in the United States.

Led by educational experts who have spent their entire careers focused on immersion education, the team at HudsonWay Immersion School (HWIS) knows that immersion education not only develops the highest level of language proficiency, it also stretches the brain and develops thinkers who can problem-solve and think creatively.

Innovative and individualized curricula

Students at HudsonWay Immersion School have a sense of security and feeling of belonging. Individual attention and innovative lesson plans give students the freedom to learn and explore.

Children are highly capable and social human beings who inherently desire to connect, communicate, and create. With that in mind, HWIS strives to prepare students to navigate the world through the lens of knowing another language and to enjoy the journey along the way.
