On June 14 our NY community came together to celebrate HWIS’ first 8th grade graduation recognizing the achievements of Charles Doyle, Jack Perkins and Renzo Lau in the Mandarin program. The celebration began with advice from Head of School Nelyda Miguel, followed by each graduate reflecting on his journey at HWIS delivered in both English and Mandarin. Each had a different journey - Charles started at HWIS from the age of 2, Jack joined in Grade 1 and Renzo in Grade 6 each without prior exposure to Mandarin. We were honored to have commencement speaker Dr. Shuhan Wang, a national leader in the field of Mandarin immersion education and board member of the Global Seal of Biliteracy highlight what it means to be a graduate of a Mandarin immersion program and bestow the Global Seal of Biliteracy. Founder Sharon Huang, and other staff and teachers also offered their reflections and congratulations.
Congratulations to the first 8th-grade graduates from HudsonWay Immersion School in NY. 🎓💚 We are so proud and overjoyed as our students embark on a new journey and look forward to hearing from them often to learn all about their contributions to a brighter future for our world.
