I think that immersion learning has a big benefit for all of the students that attend the school. It makes us different from others that might only learn English in their schools. We are one of the few schools that actually teach in both English and Chinese. At HudsonWay Immersion School we have great teachers who teach us everything we could ever know about the two languages. We get a great amount of time in Chinese while still excelling in other subjects.

Before the pandemic, most days after school I would go to swim practice or tennis practice. The days I am going swimming with my team we would do all sorts of exercises and drills to improve our skills, and sometimes finish class with some games. Every week I would get around 5 hours of swim.

When school is over I would leave for the Harlem Armory a few blocks from my apartment. Not only do they have tennis but they also have gymnastics, basketball, and some track. In tennis practice, we warm up by rallying with a partner. Then we would split into three different groups to practice different skills of our game. Then we would finish class off with some time to perform what we’ve learned against each other.

Another sport I used to play was chess. Chess is a game of strategy and skill, and I enjoyed it. I would practice almost everyday on the way to school and even play against my Dad. Then on weekends I would go to tournaments to compete against others. I feel that all the thinking that is involved in chess really helps in school subjects.

I enjoy all the programs I go to to keep me active and fresh. I also get to hang out with my friends at the same time. The activities that I’ve done make me happy and I think that those things determine the person I am today.
