ARCTIC TIE – a mnemonic for HudsonWay’s Values

In the first few weeks of school students took a deep dive into what it means to live the values of HudsonWay - Accountability, Respect, Communication, Teamwork, Innovation, Community Service, Transparency, Integrity, Excellence. Teacher Yonca Oktay led a rich discussion on each value, what it looks and sounds like, and created scenarios that demonstrated them. Teacher Shanshan Zhang created games to help her students internalize their meanings.

For the 4th year, HWIS-NY has partnered with Columbia University’s Teacher’s College to provide an environment for student teachers to get real life experience teaching in the classroom supported by a mentor teacher.
